Learn about the role of the windshield as an optical component of the overall HUD system, how it directs light from the projector to produce virtual images, and how defects in virtual images can be used to detect defects in windshield glass formation and layers. Topics include an introduction to the components of an integrated HUD system, common defects introduced by variations in windshield glass, analyses and calculations specified for characterizing windshield effects, and visual inspection systems that reduce time and complexity in testing.
