Why Display Inspection Doesn't End at the Lab

Although born in the laboratory, display metrology equipment (used to characterize the light output and visual performance of displays for R&D) also has its place on the production line. With the right equipment, manufacturers can apply scientific principles of display metrology to get lab-based data for powerful in-line quality control to catch a prevent defects during manufacturing. New display metrology systems—including imaging photometers, colorimeters, and software—are making it possible to enable production-level metrology with comprehensive data, high resolution images, accurate measurements, fully automated pass/fail inspection, and industrial communications to robotics, fixtures, and external systems.
